Always wanted to build my own guitar pedal. Decided on the Stoning Distortion to fit an enclosure I already had with holes for 3 pots. Incredibly happy with my choice.
The kit is well made and the instructions downloaded from the website were very clear for the most part. The only thing I found confusing was the values of the green chicklet caps. Might have been more helpful to list the part number rather than value. But a quick Google search with the part numbers told me which was which. The quality of the circuit board and components was top notch.
My first thoughts on hearing the circuit powered up, using my Schecter with active pickups, is that the sound clips on this website do not do it justice at all. It’s an absolutely beautiful distortion. I love dirt and have plenty on my board, but this is at the top in terms of sound. As the description on the website says, incredibly articulate. Each note rings clear through the dirt. Was able to get some great tones with it, some that I would describe as very “Sabbath” or “Soundgarden”. I can see this quickly becoming a “go to” distortion. My other guitar playing friends are going to be bugging me to build them one when they hear this little beauty.
Shipping took quite a while from Europe to the USA due to the pandemic, but I found the customer support to be extremely professional. Any emails I wrote were responded to quickly.
So pleased with how this all went that I have a bug and want to build more. Effects Pedal Kits would be my number one choice for effects kits for sure.
